'Peter Hayes Precision Tournament Casting Rods'
For
years no one has been able to buy the casting rods that have
been recognised as the 'best in the business' simply because
they have been unique 'one off' rods. Now with Ian's great skills
these rods are available to all. These are not 'just' tournament
rods! When accurate casting is of paramount importance to your
fishing, these are the rods to have in your hand.
Way back in 1983, I placed 5th in the 5/8 oz bait cast accuracy event at the World Casting Championships. The rod I used then, and have continued to use since was home made from a yellow fibreglass blank I found in a scrap bin at a tackle store. The reason I continued to use such an out-dated rod for so long was that the hundreds of modern graphite rods I have used since simply did not have a good enough action to provide the consistent accuracy required to win casting competitions. That old $4 fibreglass blank has won all the major casting events in Australia over the past 20 years. Ian Miller - Australia's greatest rod builder, recently designed a modern graphite version of my original rod. He has managed to replicate the action exactly and the new rod casts sensationally. I am proud to say that these rods are fast becoming the 'tournament standard'. The spin casting rod is also an Ian Miller, direct graphite version of the ideal, tournament, accuracy casting rod. This rod throws a 1/4 oz (7.5g) plug or lure on a bullet-like, near flat trajectory over 20 meters. Like the baitcast rod it has feel well down into the butt which is so vital to accurate casting. Over the years I have tried countless other production rods and none come close to this one for short to medium distance accuracy casting. Bait Cast Rod Cost: $350 Blank:
Highest quality graphite, 2 piece blank (ideal for the travelling/pack
angler) Length: 170 cm
Build and Components: Exquisitely constructed (as we have come to expect from Ian Miller). Full cork grips. Exclusive offset reel seat. Fuji 'Hardloy' guides. (Gold cermets are an option at additional cost). Binding is black with gold trim. Action: A truly progressive action, softer than you would possibly expect. With 5/8 oz (18g) the rod loads well down into the butt section. This is necessary to give consistent, high accuracy deliveries, with backlash-free reel control. Spin Cast Rod Cost: $335Blank: Highest quality graphite, 2 piece blank (ideal for the travelling/pack angler) Length: 163 cm Build and Components: Exquisitely constructed (as we have come to expect from Ian Miller). Full cork grips. Fuji 'Hardloy' guides. (Gold cermets are an option at additional cost). Binding is black with gold trim. Action: Like the baitcaster, very much a 'through' action. Power obviously out of the tip for short casts, and much lower down for long accurate casting. Please Note:
