Polaroiding Magic

.....'The following days fishing with Michael was undoubtedly the best I have had in ten years guiding. We 4 wheel drove into a remote and isolated lake with the raft on the roof.
Mike caught and released 30 trout of 3 pound average. All were sighted and rose well to small dry flies. Many others were lost!'

Fly Patterns -- The Shaving Brush

Simply the best emerger we have ever used. Floats just right every time - all under water except the deer hair flange. Easy to see for fishermen and more importantly - fish! Works best in a big wave but also very good on still bright days. A static fly only that must be tied on with Haysie’s loop knot to work effectively.
Hook; No. 12 long shank
Tail; 4 strands of pheasant tail fibres or similar
Body and thorax; Chocolate brown wool or Rainey’s copper sparkle dub.
Rib: three or four turns of fine copper wire.
Wing; Flared flange of natural deer hair on top part of hook only.

Tricks for new Players -- Haysie's Loop Knot

1. Thread the eye of the hook and roll a loop into the tippet.
2. Thread the tag back through the loop and commence wrapping over both strands.
3. Continue until 4 wraps have been made.
4. Close the knot and adjust the loop size by sliding down toward the eye. Do not pull it tight just yet.
5. When the loop is of the desired size, pull the knot tight.
