"Life is too short to be a bad fly caster." Peter Hayes Bill Classon
Freshwater Fishing Australia
Peter Hayes first taught me his principles of fly casting twenty five years ago. At the time he was in his very early twenties and had established himself as one of the world's most competitive fly casters (and indeed plug and spin accuracy as well). He and Lisa Hayes now operate a guiding company in Tasmania (Premier Fly Fishing Guides) in trout season and run casting classes around Australia out of season. He has been Australia Fly Casting champion ten times as well as a silver medallist at the world level. Fishing skills? Well he won the Australian Fly Fishing Championship in 1999 on his first attempt. It would be easy for me to continue ad nauseum, suffice to say that Peter has the best system of casting and imparting that knowledge bar none. Every casting instructor I've seen (and that's a lot) start their approach by having a look at how you cast and then tell you what you're doing wrong. Peter's approach is to forget what you're doing now and he teaches you a system that is simply the best! I encourage everyone to do a Hayes course when they're next in your area. Life will never, ever be the same again! Issue 50
