Polaroid Fishing
'Flats style' fishing on clear bright days can provide world
class sight fishing for our wild brown trout. Stalking large
browns in knee deep, crystal clear water where you can see
every spot on their back is the ultimate sight fishing experience.
You will be amazed at how difficult it is to delay your strike
by the necessary three seconds.
This is close quarter fishing, rarely do you need to cast more than twenty feet and your quarry is always in sight. Once you master the techniques of polaroiding you wont want to fish any other way. Because of the shallow snag free nature of our lagoons and tarns the fish, when hooked, will nearly always take you well into the backing in the first run. Most fishing is done with the dry fly. We are centrally located to Australia's premier Mayfly waters. At this time of year you are fishing within a 15 minute drive of the lodge. There
is no better place to experience this summer time phenomenon
than on lakes like the famous Little Pine Lagoon, Arthurs
Lake and Penstock Lagoon.
Often the boats are used to access the remote, shallow, weedy bays where the dun feeders abound. This is gentle easy wading and classical dry fly fishing. On other occassions we stay in the boat and the bow mounted electric motors add an efficiency which is reflected directly in your catch rate. It is not uncommon for two guided anglers to catch more than 20 three pound fish a day. December and January are the prime months.
