Loch Style Fishing

Is a fishing method very popular in the British Isles. It is a deadly lake fishing technique in Tasmania. A team of three flies is cast from the drifting boat and the top fly deliberately skated or dibbled through the waves at the end of the retrieve. This is the most visual form of wet fly fishing we can show you. The takes are nearly always seen as the trout crash through the waves to intercept the dibbled fly.

During the 1995-96 season we had the foresight to employ the services of John Smith, an English fishing guide. The loch style techniques John brought to our lakes, and more specifically our business, has meant that we not only introduced the technique to Tasmania but our guides are leading the way in the development of it.
