Malcolm Crosse

An Englishman by birth Malcolm moved to Tasmania in 1952. His passion for fly fishing resulted in him building a shack at Bronte Lagoon and then in more recent times a stone cottage at Penstock Lagoon. He has fished the central highlands extensively. Malcolm has represented Australia in international fly fishing championships in Wales, New Zealand and Norway. He was a team member of the winning commonwealth team in Wales in 1990.

In 1997 and 1998 Malcolm captained the Australian 'Oceania' team against New Zealand and he has recently been selected as the Australian Team Captain for the 1999 and 2000 World Fly Fishing Championships. This is a great honour and his selection shows that he has attained the highest acclaim possible in the sport of fly fishing, from his peers.

In the 1999 championship Malcolm's team won the coveted gold medal. The 2000 campaign resulted in bronze.

In 1997, Malcolm, in conjunction with Rob Sloane, edited the now famous fly pattern book 'Australia's Best Trout Flies'.

Amongst other things Malcolm is the Australian importer of Kamasan hooks.

A member of the Fly Tyers' Club of Tasmania for almost30 years, Malcolm maintains a keen interest in fly tying trends. He is also a keen amateur entomologist. Malcolm would have to be one of Australia's best known, and most liked, fly fishing personalities. His energy and enthusiasm for the sport of fly fishing is infectious and it has to be seen to be believed. He loves the personal contact and the great friendships that come from guiding. He is a high achiever, he is wise, and above all else a delight to spend fishing time with.
