Fishing Facts & Fiction

From Fellow Fishermen

Fishing is more than a job...Premier guides are in the priviledged position to share their passion with those with whom they fish...Additionally we like to share our knowledge through the many high quality fishing magazines both in Australia and other world fishing centres.

G'day Peter,

Thanks for an excellent trip. Your knowledge and experience really made my trip to Tasmania worthwhile and left me with very positive memories of a lovely and mysterious place.

Tassie fishing was different from my expections. Your direction on where to situate, how to spot incoming cruisers, where to place intercepting casts, choice of flies and retrieve type were all critical to success. And your suggestions on other venues to fish on my own were most helpful.

Your advice and instruction was invaluable - I could easily have gone fishless for days if left to my own devices. I am pleased to learn new techniques to improve my fishing success in all situations and you were very generous in sharing your knowledge.

I highly recommend your services and look forward to fishing with you and Lisa in the future.

Best Wishes,

Sid Wales

Dear Peter, Lisa and Neil,

I am sending this note to thank you very sincerely for a truly memorable experience. Timothy and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and this was due to the professional way in which you looked after us.

The package you were able to put together was quite outstanding. Right from Lisa's friendly welcome at the airport, through to the depth of knowledge and understanding shown by Peter and Neil. The ability of Neil and Peter to impart that knowledge (even to slow learners like me) and then the trouble Lisa took in driving us to Hobart and showing us the Salmon Ponds along the way - not to mention the large number of fish we caught! Since we have returned to civilisation, there have been times when we both wished we were back fishing in Tasmania, and we have both dined out a few times on trout stories (although the trout are getting bigger and bigger each time the story is retold).

The fish which Lisa smoked were absolutely delicious. They were devoured by the rest of our family within about 1 hour of arriving in Brisbane, and so they didn't see much of sunny Queensland.

We are both very much looking forward to returning to fish with you again next year.

Once again, many thanks.
Kind regards,
David Thomas - Brisbane, Queensland.

Dear Lisa and Peter,

Thank you Peter for your choice of guides - I have strongly recommended your services.

I had a great two days fishing on Arthur's Lake - ten fish in total, from 1.5 pounds up to 3.5 pounds. All were in top condition and fought hard.

Please find enclosed a photo of my first Tasmanian trout, caught on a Wooly Bugger and guided by Malcolm.

Thanks again for a wonderful weekend.

Regards,
Josh Gambrill - Sydney, NSW.

Dear Peter,

Just a short note to thank you for your professionalism, teaching and good company when you guided me last Thursday on Arthur's Lake.

My brief was probably somewhat unusual, in as much as I wanted knowledge on Arthur's Lake and an improvement in my fishing technique, more than I wanted to catch fish on the day.

You were able to satisfy all my requirements and left me a much improved angler. As a Tourism operator and a member of both Regional and State Tourism Boards I am conscious of the need for visitors to Tasmania to be provided with the highest level of service. This is particularly relevant to the outdoor activities sector in which you operate. The quality of your boat, your attention to detail (including Lisa's home made bread) and your knowledge and skill as a casting/fishing coach were all first class.

Kind regards,
John Mitchell - Launceston, Tasmania.

Dear Peter,

I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful 3 days of fishing.

You have, with your expertise, introduced me to a completely new form of fishing. I thank you for your patience, knowledge and humility, Lisa for her lunches and God for the weather.

I will definitely be at it again in the New Year and would certainly use your services in the future. Further I would have no hesitation in recommending you to my colleagues. Once again 'Thank You' for a great time and please use me as a reference if you so desire.

Yours faithfully,
Peter F Robinson - Sydney, NSW.
